Since I have nothing better to do.

It appears I'll be sitting on my butt all day,
so why not just web-cam myself and relay my sad, sad story.
So I did installment number 2 of Couch to 5K, which is nothing really.
5 minute brisk walk followed by intervals of walking and running -
60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking, with a 5 minute cool down.
For 30 minutes.  Fairly simple explanation for something that is somewhat of
a struggle for someone like me - 45 years old and probably never ran a day in my life.
Just not a runner. But there is a first time for everything,
and in my quest to get fit and lose some weight, I thought I would
add this to my current list of
THINGS I NEED TO DO UNTIL THEY INVENT THE MAGIC
WEIGHT LOSS PILL.
And I did it......
and totally screwed up my knee.

At least I think it's my knee at this point.
So here I sit.  Or lay.  Leg up.  Leg up some more
With ice.  Without ice.
Fantastic. 
But I do have on my most comfy-est nightgown ever.  Some African inspired
DO NOT SAY HOUSECOAT
dress thingy that I bought a long time ago at Animal Kingdom Lodge's gift shop
in Disney World, Florida.
Oh and my hot pink fuzzy socks.
AND I got a major pep talk from my sister in law
on my idea that I need to run
and my lousy attitude.

So attitude adjustment.  CHECK
Butt shift on the couch.  CHECK
New bag of ice.  CHECK

Last January I decided to become a runner. Heck, if my 60+ father in law could do it, so could I! I was at a 10 minute mile and could do 6 miles easily. Had my eye on a half marathon. However, every morning I woke up feeling like crap. My knees hurt, my legs hurt and I don't mean muscle pain. It was joint pain. By March I had quit. I love going to classes at the gym with boxing being at the top of my list. There are lots of ways to get in shape without running, the key is to find something you love. I still plan on doing that half-marathon next February, only I'll be walking it. Want to join me, it the Disneyworld "Princess half marathon" women only

I am going to try that Couch POtato thing, Gini.
Last year when I was all about becoming a runner because "all the cool moms run" I had no plan of action.
And really, I love my workouts with weights, classes and Yoga. But, I can fit in a little running. And Jay runs and he LOVES it and Gini, lemme tell you - the man looks gooooooooooood!
So, I'm gonna join you. As soon as I can get out of my driveway again (hopefully tomorrow) I will hit the gym and hit the treadmill.
But, I hear what Emily is saying, too - and she's right. Running is VERY hard on your body. Very. So, maybe you should do a few months of getting yourself into a shape you're comfortable with first.
Try Yoga, Zumba, an Interval Class... Get your body primed and your confidence up. :)
