Proud to be a mom

Yesterday was filled with school parties for Halloween.
Kids Garrin's age dress in the typical
Nascar Driver.....

It's fun to see kids a little older and how they dress up.
Lot more homemade costumes....

They were all just so different.

Hold on.

Let's take a look at that one again.
That chick in the pink hair really stands out........

OMG......that is Connor....
as Lady GaGa.

Seriously, when he came back into the classroom,
some of his friends didn't even know it was him....
Even Lady GaGa needs to eat.

He wore his dress, boots and tights well.
His PE teacher even said, good thing he works out so much...
he's got the perfect body to pull this off...

It could be that I am getting old....

We are going to spend the weekend in Disneyland,
which is something I've always wanted to do for Halloween.

Bill is going to be a pirate....same as last year.
Garrin is going to be a Nascar Driver,
(not my choice....but's not all about what I want, right??)
Connor is going to be .......... not even going there yet.
That will be a blog post in itself.

So just Hannah and I were left to pick out something. So tonight we
went out together in search of...

Hannah found, after about a half hour of looking,
a very cute Super Girl costume.

As I roamed around for myself, I wanted to keep in mind that
it is getting chilly here and will be in California as well.

I found that I had the option of:

A slutty nurse
A slutty witch
A slutty pirate
A slutty Alice in Wonderland
A slutty fairy
A slutty Little Red Riding Hood
A slutty cheerleader
A slutty zombie
A slutty vampire
A slutty devil
A slutty Wilma
A slutty angel
A slutty prisoner
A slutty french maid (hmm....are there non-slutty french maid's)
A slutty school girl
A slutty biker babe
A slutty kitty cat
A slutty cowboy
A slutty sailor
A slutty Dorothy
A slutty Disney Princess even.....

even a slutty slut.

So I picked out a Hippie Chick costume,
that actually covers my boobs and my butt.......'s gonna be cold.

"Oh no you di-in't"

So, yes. We drive our kids to school....every day.
We live far enough away from each school, elementary and middle,
to be provided transportation.

But my little prima-donna's kids would rather
I waste a lot of gas, time, money, energy,
spend quality time
chatting with Bill or I on the way to school.

So we drive them.

who doesn't really know any better at this point,
DOES take the bus home.
He arrives everyday right about straight-up-noon-time.

Today I was upstairs, knee-deep in laundry around the time Garrin was
to be arriving. Bill was downstairs. I came down about 12:30 and asked
where Garrin was. He hadn't gotten home yet. Now I am a tad
panicked. But within a couple minutes the bus pulled up.

As I went out, I noticed a new/substitute driver. As I hopped on the bus
to get Garrin, the driver said to me....

"He told me his name was one of the other kids name, so I brought him to that
house and that's why I'm late."

I was like...

"WHAT?"....and I got off the bus...with my kid.

And then I thought out loud...
1. OK, so you relied on a 4 year-old's information about his name.
2. You relied on a 4 year-old....just in general.
3. You relied on a 4 year-old with a speech issue which is why he is in
Early Childhood to begin figure out who he is and how
to get him home.

extreme concentration

You must know how incredibly important it is...
to get the little teeny tiny car, no bigger than the size of a thumbnail,
around the teeny tiny racetrack, no bigger than the size of a credit card,
driven by a little fox, or maybe it's a dog, or a monster.....

I can't tell........but it is super important to Garrin....

two...three hours at a clip...

How the hell does he know how to play these things already???

No really......

I saw this yesterday.
A friggin dog on a skateboard......
Went shopping at Town Square with my friend Gail and....
we were pretty much all done after that....
had to go sit down and have a coffee,
just to recover from seeing this. was for real!
The Blackberry really doesn't do it justice..
where was my damn camera when I needed it?

"Isn't THAT special????"

I've been a bit hesitant putting up these photos,
since the occasion was to celebrate our very good friends
son's bar mitzvah....

and slacker-me has yet to get pictures of the bar-mitzvah-ed one
to his family..............hmmm.

So I have been sitting on these.

Anyhoo. They are nice and I don't have anything sarcastic to say today....

Garrin took this one.

Just kidding. My mother-in-law did........"we" need to work on
centering, Mom.....centering. It is really nice, nonetheless.

Where is Garrin, you ask? Right where he should be...
no where near a synagogue.....

Calling all girlfriends...

An unexpectedly good friend sent this to me today.
I had to share.
Thank you ;)

When I stand up for myself and my beliefs, they call me a bitch.
When I stand up for those I love, they call me a bitch.
When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts or do things my own way, they call me a bitch.

Being a bitch means I won't compromise what's in my heart.
It means I live my life MY way.
It means I won't allow anyone to step on me.

When I refuse to tolerate injustice and speak against it, I am defined as a bitch.
The same thing happens when I take time for myself instead of being everyone's maid, or when I act a little selfish.
It means I have the courage and strength to allow myself to be who I truly am and won't become anyone else's idea of what they think I 'should' be.

I am outspoken, opinionated and determined.
I want what I want and there is nothing wrong with that!
So try to stomp on me, just try to douse my inner flame,
try to squash every ounce of beauty I hold within me.
You won't succeed.

And if that makes me a bitch , so be it.
I embrace the title and am proud to bear it.

B - Babe
I - In
T - Total
C - Control of
H - Herself

B = Beautiful
I = Intelligent
T = Talented
C = Charming
H = Hell of a Woman

B = Beautiful
I = Individual
T = That
C = Can
H = Handle anything

You need to say this today??
Feel free to copy and paste, baby!!

Whether or not you like Dr. Phil....

"There is no reality - only perception"

The way we view things is really only a reflection of our self beliefs, and not necessarily 'how it really is'.

How true.

Taking one for the team

"Yes. Connor just got hit square in the face with a soccer ball,
coming full speed off an opponent's foot."
"No. I'm not laughing AT you, Connor. Just trying to make a joke
to lighten the moment.............."
".......... because the drama needs to end NOW. You need to get your butt back
in and get back to playing.........."
before we lose this game, Mister."
Love you Connor.
See?....your head is still attached to your body today.

Have you ever made them?
Are you sometimes so right-on-the-money it's scary?

I have to brag...I am usually fairly accurate with most of mine.

Take for instance
What a sweet face.
I love it.
I love him.

But there's been just somethin' about my boy,
not really sure what, but I predicted some time ago
that he would be the first of our three children
to tell me to go F**K myself.

I feel it.
I know it.

As of late he has had a tendency to say...."WHAT THE........??"
and then stops himself.

So the other night we were driving home from swimming and I asked my'
usual question - "How was your workout tonight???"

His response.
"Oh my was so fricken hard!!!!"
of which he caught himself, starting giggling uncontrollably,
and told me HE MEANT TO SAY "stinkin".

Yah, right Connor.

Bill and I have been talking

I've had several "light bulb" moments, to say the least.
Let's call it a "flare" moment,
just because I want to post this super cool flare shot I got yesterday....

Isn't it true that when you meet your soulmate,
you celebrate in all the things that you DO NOT have in common.
They are fresh, new aspects you can bring into your own life.
It is certainly part of the attraction to the other person.

I mean, seriously, how boring would it be if you were both
so alike....poured from the same mold....???

So how come, when the clouds roll in,
as you've been sitting under your umbrella of LIFE,
when a storm hits,
and you feel the winds of change blowing in,
suddenly not having certain things in common,
is not so great anymore?

You do whatever it takes to see the light.
To bring you back.
To travel on the same road.
To once again relish in all that is not similar.

at all cost

at ALL cost
**btw - these are shots of our beautiful sky yesterday!!

How much can you do in one day?

I knew by looking at my calendar in the kitchen,
and Saturday October 10th was filled with things to do,
and that the days surrounding it had OTHER things to do
with little arrows POINTING to Saturday, ....

it was going to be FULL. VERY FULL.

Started out with the Danny Gans Memorial Run.
Here is Bill and my mother-in-law with
GRUMPY Garrin.

Too stinkin early for him, apparently.

Here is my crazy daughter and her friends. She opted for the 5K run.
(of course she did........)

Waiting at the start line for the 1K-er's to finish up.

Here comes my Connor (who I honestly almost fell on the ground
when I realized he RAN the 1K).

A 10 minute mile. Not too shabby for a first timer!
Nice sprint up the hill to the finish.

My theory of Bill, Garrin and my mother-in-law bringing up the rear,
was surprisingly incorrect. They did great.
And Grumpy Boy was "over himself" by the end of the mile.

Here is the starting line for the 5K.
The weather could not have been anymore perfect,
the skies any more blue.

Lap number one.

Lap number 2.

25 minute 5K.
a three minute add from the last one....
but who's keeping track...

oh, yeah, that would be ME.
The one that doesn't run 5K's.....

After a nap (yeah, that would be me, too.....),

Soccer at 6pm.

With a little chill in the air, it was easy to wake up and get ready for the game.

Here is Mr. Boss-Man, telling his team mates what to do,
where to go....

When you've woken from a lovely nap, it's easy to forget
the "big" lens for the camera. This could have been an amazing shot...

Father and son...and assistant this one.

Mr. Goalie.....god he's mulit-talented, isn't he.....

And let's not forget to give thanks to the cheering section.

OK - Hannah was dancing around and not paying attention...
but so what.

When you are this beautiful, it's all about the drama....

At day's end.....sleeping through the night soundly was a plus!
