Making Friends with the Enemy

I totally stepped out of my comfort zone today,
and had a coffee with someone who has been
on my short list of people I don't want to spend time with.

I feel like a better person.

For a couple of years I have co-existed with this person
in my neighborhood and at my children's school.
I have made a commitment to Connor and to myself
to be more involved with his school and his class.
Because of this, I will be within close proximity to this person
quite often for the next 8 months.

So in order to calm the fury that boils within me
every time I am in such a situation,
I chose to be the bigger person and try to
make amends,
feel less uncomfortable,
put hurt feelings aside,
and take the first step.

All the while, just keeping it on a very real level.
Whatever that may be right now.
Hopefully a good start to a great week!

That must have been difficult--but what a great thing to have done. I hope it continues to go well--and benefits Connor AND you in the end!

WHOA!
and what I mean by that is

HUH???

Taking the high road definately makes you a better person because the short cut path is always the most tempting way to go. Hey I should start my own church haha!

I know how hard it is to do what you did today. We spent second grade with this person(if it's the person I'm thinking of) and it's wonderful what you did! Have a great week, we'll be in Vegas on Tuesday, maybe see you around school!

p.s.we have a blog too, but I'll need your e-mail to send an invitation so you can view it!

Good for you, Gin. In the grand scheme of things, sometimes it's better to just let things go that aren't worth the energy and move forward. Easier said than done!

Good for you! I'm sure it wasn't easy but will be worth it, and what an awesome example to set for your children.

I have a short list, too. Actually, it is sort of long. Anyway, I hate having to do what you did today but it always makes me feel good that I was ABLE to. XO

It's like you have a frienemy. They say keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Going out for coffee definitely brings you closer.
